How do I study? What tools do I need to become successful? Why do I have to study? What can I do to make studying easier?
These are questions that I’ve always thought of when I’m studying. To be completely honest, I DON’T LIKE STUDYING!!! I’m definitely not an awesome test taker & how I learn is in a more creative way.
I went to Hair School thinking there’s not going to be really any test or quizzes its going to be a creative environment. NOPE I THOUGHT WRONG!
So how I figued out what works best with me. First things first, READ! Ugh right?! Don’t get me wrong reading is great and all just you know, when you pick up a book & 3 minutes later you wakeup taking a 5 hour long nap? So in order for me not to pass out reading I had to go somewhere else, like a coffee shop or a book store. No where near my comfy bed.
Read the passage once. Next read the passage and highlight words & phrases that stick out. It helps when you have your cute lil highlighting set that you just got at target or whatnot.
Next thing take out some note book paper and summarize what you just read. AND LASTLY put it on note cards. Study your note cards DAILY.
You’re probably thinking…..WHAT? All of that. Yes all of that, you see people with creative minds can’t look at one thing and just memorize it all. If you can do all of that BLESS YOU!!
Another great tool to have is Quizlet.com. they have sets already made for anything you have to study. But the biggest thing for me was going through the Milady Exam Review and making my very OWN set for the whole book.
If you take studying seriously, YOU WILL PASS. You have to see what works best for you!!!
